I've been thinking ( i know i probably shouldent) but it would seem logical that in the time era that we are in that the dropships and tanks would have some sort of missile defense system possibly a mod that we could skill into. as it stands Dropships and tanks have only 1 line of defense against the oncoming swarms and thats brace for impact and repair. iv pondered on a few ideas.
1) if the swarms are heat sensing, then some form of acctive deployable decoy or chaff modd would be cool.
2) if the swarms are locking on to the electricall field of the vehicle, then some sort of acctive anti sensor/lock on mod
3) this applys to both electrical field and any other type of lock on, A mod that has some sort of anti missile gatiling gun ( only for missiles not troops or vehicles ) this would have to be an acctive mod
these are only a few thoughts and off course from the possible mods iv mentiond would all have to be acctive mods and have sufficient cool down times for balance and fairness otherwise the swarm launcher would become redundant. These acctive mods would rely on the skill of the driver being able to acctivate them whilst in the thick of a heavy fire fight or hot landing zone. Constructive critisism welcome. |

sorry didnt see your thread or i would have posted there, swarms are the bain of my piloting abilities . well almost . it would defo be somethiing awesome to have some sort of swarm defense . |

Alexi Loken wrote:I am sure CCP is still working out how EWAR will work in DUST considering it is a huge part of EVE, it would a little silly if they did not, I don't want to be a nay sayer against suggestions and feedback but a lot of the things that people suggest are most likely being worked on or are on some sort of list, I encourage DUST players the thumb through the EVElopedia and see the tech that is available to capsuleers that will most likely be adapted and available to us in the future.
You are most probably correct that any thing we can think of they will be working on it, but us asking for requests or giving feedback will let the devs know that they are on the right track i.e. what we acctually want from the game. |

That way, a lone Swarmer could be defeated by countermeasures, but a Swarmer with help from a Forward Observer would not be.
I would support this if the paining device took the place of the main wepon and forced swarms and painters to work as a team. |

hell no i love using them as well as evading them, i never said anything about making them extinct all the sugestions i put forward were in aid of defence against them, and i also mentiond how to make it fair . |

This is a bad idea taking away a primary weapon so that someone can at one time kill that one derpship with that one module that stops the swarms from working. No one would use it because the then have only a sidearm. also Logis would never even think about it despite being the ubiquitous support class in the game. I say make it equipment it has no purpose other than pointing out the dropship and equipment is much easier to justify than taking away a primary.
I f you think about it not only would it be good for dropships but any target vehicle/turret /instalation that happes to be on the map . this could lead the way for swarms or other such wepons being used as strategic artillery. ps i never said anythig about logies carrying them. |

I love the forge gun espessially the 9k or assault models, they are more of a threat than the mallitia , hears why - the mallitia forge is normally run by newberries or "ammiture " or weekend heavys. it acctually takes a bit of skill to take down a dropship with a forge gun and the minute they start firing in the air they are a target for my guners , most folks who have taken shots at me witj there forges have been up on a high point right where my gunners can see them. but those pesky swarmers fire at me from all sorts of places. |

it would be cool if we do get some sort of counter measure even if it only stopps a few missiles from the swarm . |

After speaking to my gunners they thought it would be cool if they could shoot the swarms out the air with the blaster , this would awesome and would show the true skills of my gunners ( who are probably the best gunners oi could ask for ). |
